Here is our new kitchen after the remodel, continuing in our diy tradition we demoed the old kitchen ourselves over a three day weekend including the walls separating it from the living and dining rooms. We then brought in the pros to move some plumbing and do the drywall work before we were ready to install the new flooring and cabinets. Because we essentially opened up the kitchen to the rest of our main floor living space we had to replace all the flooring (having already done the bedrooms) what remained was the hall, living, dining, our connected sunroom and of course kitchen. After the new engineered hardwoods were down and the fresh paint was up the space already felt brand new but next went in the new cabinets that we had been busy building. As you might have guessed, we went with Ikea kitchen cabinets to save money, especially with the diy install and I really like their organization.
The island is also made of Ikea cabinets with storage on both sides and houses the oven, cook top and beverage fridge. The adjacent wall has the fridge and pantry cabinets (so much storage!) and totally worth making the sliding door a touch smaller to make room for. I love our quartz counters, especially the waterfall edges on the island, adds some color to the white space. The open shelving on the sink wall is also a favorite of mine and it's fun to re-style them every now and again.
