travel photography: istanbul
It has been awhile since I have posted on the blog . . . mostly because we were off traveling in Turkey. It was an amazing adventure! I always find it so refreshing and inspiring to visit somewhere new and get out of one’s comfort zone a bit :) Travel is such a joy and blessing to me. Many people asked us – “why Turkey?” For me, the original reasoning for wanting to visit were the photographs I had seen online (of course). Plus, let’s be honest . . . randomness always appeals to me ;) The more research I did the more I discovered what a wonderful place it would be to visit.
Turkey offers GREAT views (we enjoyed just about every meal on an outdoor terrace!), varying regions/landscapes (with cheap & quick domestic flights), many activities (ferries, hot air balloons, hiking & beaches), Istanbul (one of the world’s largest/greatest cities), TONS of Greek & Roman ruins, plus cute villages and much more.
Of course, I have a TON of photographs to share . . so I will let the images speak for themselves on what a beautiful country Turkey is. Beginning with Istanbul – a city of the world with more than 15 million residents straddling the Bosporus Strait and TWO continents!
We enjoyed the beautiful weather, sunsets and lots of fresh food. Toured the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, The Blue Mosque, the Underground Cistern, and the Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent. Cruised the Bosphorus on a ferry and strolled the Golden Horn, Galata Bridge and Istiklal Street. Plus, we shopped away at the Grand Bazaar and Spice Market!
